Jenica McKeown, LCSW

Gender Pronouns: She, Her, Hers

Clinical Approach

Jenica is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW 62086) and has experience in working with individuals and families in different settings. She has always been drawn to working with families and children, in different capacities, from nannying several families while in college, working in after-school programs to being a parent mentor of twin families. Her main reason for becoming a Social Worker was to be in a helping profession and be a positive impact on others.

Jenica draws from her personal experience of anxiety and depression, postpartum, after having her identical twin girls. She is excited to support the perinatal wellness of mothers and couples, women’s wellness, and positive parenting. She has a passion for working with children and providing guidance to parents to create a positive environment for children to thrive.

Jenica uses a client-centered approach by drawing upon a strength-based, cognitive behavioral therapy and brief solution-focused therapy for individual psychotherapy. Her focus is on supporting individuals who are coping with grief and loss, maternal mental health, anxiety, depression, women’s wellness, caregiving, adjustment, and parents of multiples.

Her professional background includes case consultation and counseling with family caregivers who are caring for someone who is frail or cognitively impaired. She is transferring her skills to support the wellness of parents through their journey of parenthood and getting back to her passion, which is what initially drew her to this career.

Her Passions

Jenica enjoys spending time with her husband and twin girls. In her spare time, she is coaching her daughter’s soccer and softball teams. She enjoys teaching their teammates about the sports she grew up playing. Occasionally she still plays in adult soccer and softball leagues. Additionally, spending time with extended family and friends is very important to her as well.

She continues to stay connected to the non-profit, San Diego Parents of Twins Club, where she served on the board for several years, and continues to support twin parents through this club. Jenica became a member when she was pregnant and found it an essential part of support in the beginning stages of parenthood and tries to give back to the members, when able.
