Evelyng is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT 135454) who practices narrative therapy while engaging with her clients in a culturally responsive manner and client-centered language. She is passionate about her holistic ideas on mental health to employ body movement and artistic expressions in collaborative explorations with her clients. As well as working in companionship with clients where knowledge and understanding are co-created through meaningful therapeutic conversation. Her joy in working with families stems from many years of working on art projects and creative expression with children and their families.
Originally from Nicaragua, Evelyng is bilingual (Spanish) and offers individual and conjoint family therapy across San Diego County on a wide range of topics including domestic abuse, sexual assault, displacement, grief, trauma, non-traditional relationships, women’s issues, and maternal mental health. Evelyng is under the supervision of Heather St.Jean-Garica, Psy.D., LMFT #53811.
Specialized Trainings
Evelyng earned her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from San Diego State University. Her special interest is helping clients to build communities as support systems, promoting rituals of cultural practices, and finding creative therapeutic alliances between the client and traditional therapy.

“I love thinking of therapy as a practice of interconnections, those conversational spaces where beautiful knowledge is constantly created based on the client’s expertise in their life experiences and the reflective input of proficiency as a clinician engaged with the authenticity of stories, emphasizing strengths and creating positive change.”
